For instance, the Citizens Police Academy is an annual program designed to promote communication and understanding between the police and the community. The Citizens Police Academy is a 9 week program, held one night per week for 9 weeks. Each attendee may also choose to ride-along with a Saxonburg Police Officer. During the 9 weeks, topics taught in the academy include narcotics, officer safety issues, patrol operations, laws of arrest, and many more. For more information, click HERE.

Other programs offered include the Firearms Safety and Self Defense Programs. Each is a one night introduction to each topic. The programs are offered at different times throughout each year. The Borough of Saxonburg website, as well as the Saxonburg Police Department and Mayor of Saxonburg Facebook pages will have information on these programs as the dates are announced each year.
